While some astronomers argue about the definition of a planet, others continue the search for planets orbiting other stars. In a paper accepted for publication in a future issue of The Astrophysical Journal, a team of astronomers utilizing the Magellan Telescope (built by the Carnegie Institution of Washington at its Las Campanas Observatory in Chile), have confirmed the existence of two extrasolar planets and announced the discovery of two more extrasolar planets and a brown dwarf. See their preprint online at http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/0810/0810.5348v1.pdf
