Direct Imaging of Betelgeuse using Three Telescopes as One
In a paper submitted to Astronomy and Astrophysics, available online now here, an international group of scientists report on the results of their efforts to directly image the surface of the well known star Betelgeuse of the constellation Orion. The authors utilized interferometry, a way to combine more than one telescope (in this case three telescopes) to act as one much larger telescope, and found that Betelgeuse has sunspots and limb darkening just like our own Sun.
