The Dynamics and Chemistry of Solar System Formation
Solar system formation is an active area of astronomy research. There are a number of models of the formation of the solar system that can be found in today’s elementary astronomy textbooks. However, most of these models are only modeling the physical dynamics of the formation of the solar system, rarely simultaneously considering the chemical abundance of elements available to the forming planets. In a pre-print of a paper accepted to the journal Icarus, a team of Arizona astronomers present an overview of a model of the physical and chemical foundations of the formation of the solar system, especially the Earth. Their voluminous report is available online now here.
