ESA Verifies Rosetta Orbit for Earth FlyBy Next Week
The European Space Agency announced today that its spacecraft Rosetta with lander Philae, ultimately destined to land on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko in December 2014, will be making its Earth flyby on 13 November, as scheduled. Rosetta is using the Earth flyby to give it a gravitational assist so that it can reach comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Scientists are hoping to take some scientific data during the Earth encounter.
