Reviewing Astrophysical Neutrinos
In a review paper to appear in the Annual Review of Nuclear and Particle Science, available online now here, astronomers from the University of Wisconsin provide an up-to-date review of the search for astrophysical neutrinos. While the authors provide some mathematical rigor to their presentation, they also provide an excellent overview and history of the neutrino in its astronomical context. They provide an historical review of the neutrino telescopes that have been in operation in the past, and a look forward to the neutrino telescopes in the process of being built today, especially the one near the South Pole station known as Ice Cube. From understanding the Sun, to the nature of dark matter, neutrinos will play a major role in our comprehending the universe at large.
